Safehaven: New Pilot Boat to Williams Shipping (UK)

Safehaven Marine of Ireland will soon deliver a new pilot boat to Williams Shipping based in Southampton, UK.

"Willfreedom" is powered by two Scania DI13 engines that deliver an operational speed of 25 knots. A maximum of 12 passengers can be accommodated in addition to the crew of two.

The boat also has a 27,000btu AC unit, Raymarine navigation equipment, a PU bonded fendering system, Grammer shock-mitigating seats, and an MOB recovery platform.

Whatever we trust in, whatever the rituals or traditions you Marine Pilots have - when you board your pilot boats, climb the ladders, get the vessels through the harbour - keep them and cherish them, they are good and they are important.

My personal impression is that a lot has changed in terms of safety in the last two years. Non-compliance with current legislation that directly affects the safety of pilots is now no longer tolerated by many stakeholders. Something is happening. And that is a good thing.
