Two Carnival cruise ships collided in Cozumel, Mexico on December 20th 2019, causing damage to both ships.

It can also be operated in deeper offshore waters to accommodate transfers of pilots to deeper-draught ships. The Watercat 160 Pilot can operate even in more restrictive inner harbour waters. The Bahamas has imposed a compulsory maritime pilot rule for all vessels, including cruise ships, at its ports since September 2025.

These are the feelings which have been voiced by the crews I have been in contact with during pilotage operations these last few weeks.
