長崎県に入港するクルーズ船「ダイヤモンド・プリンセス」を誘導していた水先人の男性が海に転落し、男性はその後、死亡が確認された。 死亡したのは、水先人の大須賀祥浩さん(69)。 長崎海上保安部によると、5日午前5時半ごろ、パイロットボートから無線で「客船に移乗させる際にパイロットが海中に転落した」と通報があった。 大須賀さんは長崎港の入り口付近で海に転落し、クルーズ船の救命艇に救助されたが、およそ2時間後に死亡が確認された。 男性は5日に長崎に入港したクルーズ船「ダイヤモンド・プリンセス」を誘導する業務にあたっていた。

Manoeuvring large ships at close quarters and on shallow water is one of the most difficult aspects of shiphandling because of the complex hydraulic interactions depending on the ships' speeds, on the water depth and on lateral restrictions like in canals. Training is conducted both on meeting and on overtaking ships in shallow waters. This video shows how overtaking in a canal can easily fail.

Boat to boat Pilot transfer, to the Pilot Vessel Golden Gate, under the Golden Gate Bridge.

Pilot boat adalah kapal yang memandu kapal besar masuk kedalam pelabuhan melalui alur yang berbahaya dan ramai sampai sandar di dermaga. Selain itu Kapal pandu (pilot boat) adalah kapal/ boat yang digunakan untuk mengantar/ menjemput petugas pandu yang akan memandu/selesai melakukan pemanduan.

In last night's first episode of our second TV series, Dover 24/7: Britain's Busiest Port, viewers saw Duty Harbour Master and trained Class 1 Pilot, Guy South, board the cargo vessel AAL Antwerp on her inaugural call to Dover after an incredible 92-day voyage from China.

During a sea survival training, the 275 Newton standard issue of the Dutch pilots was put to the test in combination with a small backpack.
