Capt. Henk Hensen.
Capt Henk makes the point that it is often not known WHY effects and accidents happen. When piloting board ships and in simulators, the big WHY was not often visible but manned-models show everything clearly as I found out after 30 years of real and simulated ship handling! They show clearly why 'speed is your enemy and power is your friend'.

He also mentioned tug orders and language. It is vital that pilot and tug master talk to each other clearly in their own language. Intent should be briefly explained to the master when time and the pilot's attention permits.

Finnpilot’s present six pilotage areas will be merged to form four pilotage areas. New District Managers have been appointed to head the pilotage areas. At the same time, an Operational Executive Committee will be established for Finnpilot. Product tanker NORTHSEA RATIONAL in load contacted embankment in Neumuelen, Hamburg, in the morning Nov 25, while maneuvering to berth, according to FleetMon.
It stated: “Tanker sustained serious damages to starboard bow, cause of accident yet unknown.
“She was berthed after accident, and as of evening Nov 25, remained, berthed. There was no hull breach in cargo tanks area, no cargo loss reported.”
