Save the dates for the New Zealand Maritime Pilots' Association Auckland Conference 2022 comprising 3 days of seminars and workshops at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Auckland's famous Wynyard Quarter. The theme this year is "Optimising pilotage now and into the future". A speakers line up will be published soon and registration will begin in June.

It is written primarily for pilots for their own guidance and professional development, but can be used as a framework for pilot training, proficiency and assessment. It is referenced to NZ Maritime Law and Codes.

New guidance for PBAs with trapdoors. Released 4.11.2020 at NZMPA Conference in Dunedin, NZ. Distinct difference to suggestions in many other countries, is that we challenge operators who have the ladder suspended from the accommodation ladder (gangway) and not secured to the ship. SOLAS states that pilot ladder shall be secured to the ship, and securing strongpoints, shackles and ropes shall be as strong as the sideropes.
